Cult Logic Coffee

Cult Logic Coffee is a small inner-city micro-roastery and cafe at 149 Collins Street in the Hobart CBD, and the coffee is the point: the people behind it have about a decade of roasting behind them, and the compact brick-and-industrial storefront opened in late 2025. Google lists dogs as allowed in the outside area, which here means the street-side seating out front, so this is a coffee stop on a city walk rather than a long sit-down with the dog.

The dog setup

There is no courtyard or garden, just outdoor street seating in a roomy, casual setting, so bring a collapsible water bowl and keep your dog tucked close to the table. Collins Street carries steady foot traffic and the shop itself is small, so a dog that can settle while the world walks past does best. Indoors stays people-only.

Worth knowing

The roasting side matters as much as the cafe: rotating single origins and seasonal blends are on pour as espresso and filter, and bags of locally roasted specialty-grade beans go home with regulars. The signature order people chase is the smoked banana smoothie, alongside light breakfast and lunch bites, toast and sweet treats. Hours run 6am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 7:30am to midday on weekends, so the weekday early-morning window is for commuters and the late morning is yours.

Getting there and parking

149 Collins Street is central, an easy walk from the waterfront, Franklin Square or most CBD hotels. Street parking on Collins is short-stay metered, so the Argyle Street car parks nearby or arriving on foot makes more sense, especially with a dog in tow.

While you're out there

Franklin Square and the Parliament House lawns are the closest green for a quick break, and the Queens Domain has the room for a longer on-lead leg stretch. For an off-lead session, Soundy Park at North Hobart runs a fenced play space with restricted off-lead hours, and John Turnbull Park at Lenah Valley has a fully secure yard. On the way back, Abercrombie Coffee in North Hobart and CC & Co Cafe at Battery Point both keep outdoor tables for dogs, and Hobart Beer Culture Co is the evening end of the same strip.
