Daughters at Hall

Daughters at Hall is a rustic cafe and lifestyle store at 5 Victoria Street in the historic village of Hall, about 15 to 20 minutes from central Canberra. It is known for country charm, a solid brunch menu and homemade cakes, and the outdoor tables out front on Victoria Street are where the dogs sit, making it a favourite weekend stop for northside dog owners.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area at the front of the cafe on Victoria Street, leashed and settled near your table. Staff put out water bowls for visiting dogs, and there are occasional dog treats behind the counter. The courtyard is not a fully fenced yard and the road is close, so keep the lead on and pick a table set back from the footpath if your dog is a wanderer.

The vibe and the menu

The draw is homestyle cooking: egg and bacon rolls, hash browns, scones, muffins and a cabinet of home made cakes, with homemade jams and gift goods from the attached store if you want to take something home. Hours are 6:30am to 3pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, closed Wednesday, then 8am to 2pm on weekends. Weekday mornings are the calmest with a dog in tow; weekends bring the village-market crowd.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking runs along Victoria Street and around the village, and Hall Village itself is quiet and walkable for a pre-coffee stroll. Kynefin Cafe is just up the road if you want a second dog-friendly stop in the village.
