Stripey Sundae

Stripey Sundae is a family-owned ice cream parlour in Gold Creek Village, Nicholls, making small-batch ice cream from scratch in store. It is one of the friendliest dessert stops in Canberra's north for dogs: the shaded outdoor tables are open to leashed pups, and there is even a treat on the menu made for them.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the umbrella-shaded outdoor seating and covered patio, and the counter sells a dedicated Doggy Cup so your dog gets their own frozen treat instead of watching yours disappear. Keep dogs leashed and settled beside the table, as the shared courtyard fills with families on weekends. Indoors is people only.

What they serve

The ice cream rotates through around 18 flavours made on site, spanning dairy, soy, coconut and fruit bases, with vegan and gluten-free cones available alongside sorbets. Beyond scoops there are sundaes, shakes, waffles, coffee and hot chocolate, and the staff are known for keeping a jar of board games on hand.

Getting there and parking

You will find Stripey Sundae at 4/18 O'Hanlon Place, Nicholls, in Federation Square at the heart of Gold Creek Village. Opening days vary through the week, so check current hours before you go. Parking is free in the shared Gold Creek Village car parks, and the whole village is an easy on-lead wander between stops.

Make a loop of it with a coffee at LAA Cafe or a browse-and-bite stop at pulp. bookcafe, both in the same suburb. For a proper leg stretch afterwards, the Yerrabi Pond Loop is a short drive into Gungahlin.
