Boranup Forest Cafe sits on Caves Road at Forest Grove, tucked into the towering karri trees of the Boranup Forest between Margaret River and Augusta. It is a good coffee stop for anyone touring the forest drive with a dog in tow, thanks to a shaded outdoor seating area.

Dog access and setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is rustic, shaded and surrounded by forest. Dogs are not permitted inside the main cafe building. Water bowls are usually put out for dogs, but bring your own collapsible bowl as backup in case it is a busy day.

Known for. Quality coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade baked goods, all served in a quiet forest setting well away from the main Margaret River strip.

Getting there and parking. The cafe is at 7981 Caves Road, Forest Grove. There is a car park on site, though it can fill up during school holidays and long weekends when the Caves Road tourist traffic is heaviest.

Keep your dog leashed here. The cafe backs onto Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park land where baiting can occur, so this is not the spot for an off-lead wander.

Nearby with the dogs. The Boranup Forest drive and surrounding karri forest walking trails are close by, good for stretching legs after coffee. Stick to on-leash tracks within the national park boundary.

Go on a weekday morning if you can. Caves Road gets busy with tourist traffic in the middle of the day during peak holiday periods, and the small car park fills fast. Confirm current opening days before making a special trip, as hours can vary seasonally.
