Elizabeth Bay Cafe is a cosy neighbourhood spot on Elizabeth Bay Road, a short walk from Kings Cross station, known for its gluten-free corn fritters and a regulars-first feel. It sits on a busy corner, the outdoor tables take dogs, and it is a genuinely dog-heavy patch of Sydney on weekends.

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, on lead and tucked close, since the cafe sits right on the corner where foot traffic is constant. Indoor seating is for people only, but staff are accommodating with dogs waiting outside, and water is available for dogs at the outdoor seating.

The vibe

The kitchen's signature is the corn fritter, served with tomato and avocado salsa, and the menu runs to avocado toast with tahini eggplant, nourishing bowls, halloumi plates and a Reuben sandwich that gets talked about. Coffee is solid and the corner position makes it a good spot for people watching while your dog settles at your feet. No bookings, so expect a short wait at weekend brunch peak.

The cafe is on Elizabeth Bay Road near the waterfront end of the suburb. Street parking nearby is metered and tight, especially on weekends, so arriving on foot is simpler: it is an easy walk from Kings Cross station or the bus routes along Darlinghurst Road and Macleay Street. It opens 6am on weekdays and 7am on weekends, wrapping up at 3pm.

Close by with the dogs

Beare Park on the foreshore is a short stroll for a post-coffee stretch, and Embarkation Park up on the Potts Point ridge is another on-lead green patch. For a second stop, Greenknowe Cafe is around the corner and Scramble And Bean sits by Rushcutters Bay.
