Scramble And Bean

Scramble And Bean sits at 7 Waratah Street on the edge of Rushcutters Bay Park, right beside the tennis courts, and it has earned a local following as a genuinely dog-friendly breakfast spot with park and water views. Dogs are welcome at the open-air outdoor tables, and staff are relaxed about well-behaved dogs on lead.

The dog setup

The outdoor seating is open air and looks straight over the park, so your dog stays with you through the meal rather than tied up out of sight. Water bowls are not guaranteed during a busy service, so bring your own if your dog drinks steadily. The park itself starts at the doorstep, including a designated off-leash area toward the southern end near the courts, so a run can bracket the coffee.

The vibe

The parmesan scrambled eggs are the signature order, with corn fritters, a solid Reuben and a good vegan and vegetarian spread around them. Coffee is dependable, and live acoustic music often runs through weekend lunches, which makes those sessions lively but crowded.

Hours run 7am to 2:30pm daily, so this is a breakfast and lunch stop, not a dinner one. Weekday mornings are the quiet tables; weekends fill fast once the music starts.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking runs along Waratah Street and the surrounding residential streets, though it tightens up on weekends. The cafe is an easy walk through the park from Potts Point or Darlinghurst, and the bay path connects onward along the harbour.
