You Cafe Dubbo

YOU Cafe is a small Modern Asian and Australian fusion cafe at 124 Brisbane Street in the Dubbo CBD that puts itself out there as pet-friendly, with dogs welcome at the outdoor footpath tables while you work through a brunch menu that runs from bacon and egg rolls to prawn and scallop pasta. It opens 7:30am to 3pm Monday to Saturday and closes Sundays.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the sidewalk tables out front, not inside the small dining room. The footpath frontage gives enough room to settle a dog beside the table, and staff are used to four-legged guests. Bring your own water bowl since this is a compact setup without much spare gear. Aim for earlier in the morning, when the footpath tables are free and CBD foot traffic past your dog is lighter.

Worth knowing

The kitchen leans Asian-fusion: prawn cutlets, Hong Kong-style plates, tacos and a mango salad, with a yellow submarine worth decoding from the board, and the coffee is serious for a regional CBD, latte art included. It is one of the more talked-about brunch rooms in town, so weekend mornings tighten up. The Sunday closure means weekday and Saturday visits only for dog owners.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Brisbane Street in central Dubbo. Parking is mostly metered street parking along Brisbane Street and the surrounding blocks, which can mean a short walk on a busy weekday. Victoria Park and the Macquarie River paths are both within easy walking distance for the leg-stretch part of the outing.
