Rt & Coffeeworks

Rt & Coffeeworks is a small specialty coffee spot in Shop 5 at 3 Hewish Road, Croydon, just off the Main Street shopping strip and a short walk from Croydon Railway Station. It is a compact, newer addition to the strip that puts its energy into the coffee, with a short food list built around toasted sandwiches.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome here, and locals report both the indoor space and the front tables take them, but the outdoor footpath seating is the practical choice with a dog beside you. The venue is small and the outdoor area is limited, so it suits a quick, well-mannered stop rather than a long spread-out sit. Bring your own water bowl rather than counting on one being provided.

The vibe

The focus is the coffee first, and the toastie is the thing people name when they talk about the food, alongside sweet treats and pastries. It is a cosy neighbourhood room rather than a destination cafe, and being a newer, lightly reviewed spot it pays to double check opening hours before a dedicated trip.

Getting there and parking

Hours run 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 1:30pm Saturday, closed Sundays. Two hour street parking lines Main Street and the streets behind the precinct, and it fills on weekends. The cafe sits within easy walking distance of Croydon station if you would rather arrive on foot with the dog already warmed up.

While you're out there

The Town Park Dog Off Leash Area sits on the Main Street side of the strip for a quick off-lead stretch, and the Eastfield Fenced Dog Park on Eastfield Road is Maroondah's purpose-built option, fully fenced with separate large and small dog zones and a double-gate entry. For another coffee nearby, Blackwork is also on the Croydon strip.
