By the Bay Cafe

By the Bay Cafe is a family-run breakfast and lunch spot at 107 Carwar Avenue, right inside Carss Park with water views over Kogarah Bay, and it draws a steady stream of local dog walkers off the back of the reserve. The outdoor tables with a bay outlook are the whole proposition here.

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on the footpath and courtyard area beside the cafe; indoors is generally reserved for assistance dogs only. Keep your dog on lead and settled near your table, since the outdoor area gets busy on weekends and sunny days. Some visitors report water bowls and the odd treat for dogs, but bring your own bowl as a backup and confirm on the day.

The bay views from the outdoor tables are the drawcard, backed by an all-day breakfast and lunch menu that covers the classics, salads and a decent coffee list. It is a popular stop for the St George dog-walking crowd heading to or from Carss Bush Park, so weekend mornings fill early. Hours run 7am to 3:30pm every day.

Getting there and the park loop

Parking is in the Carss Park car park nearby, which fills quickly on weekends and warm days, so arrive early if you want a table with a view. Carss Bush Park's walking paths and grassed areas are right outside the door, and the fenced run at Carss Bush Park Fenced Dog Park is a short stroll away for an off-lead session before breakfast.
