Local Joe Cafe

Local Joe Cafe is a neighbourhood coffee spot right outside Woolworths at Carrara Shopping Centre on Manchester Road, trading 6:30am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm Saturdays, closed Sundays. It works best as an easy, dog-friendly stop while you are already out on the errands run, not a destination cafe.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables and footpath seating out the front; indoors is kept dog-free. Staff are happy to bring out a bowl of water on request, though there is no dedicated dog menu, so pack your own treats if the errands run is long. Ground-level tables straight off the car park make arrival simple.

Worth knowing

The coffee is reliable and the bacon and egg Turkish roll is the popular order, with poached eggs on toast, muffins and burgers filling out the menu. Reviews consistently name the friendly, community-minded owners as the reason regulars keep coming back.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at Shop 2/54 Manchester Road inside Carrara Shopping Centre, with free, ample parking in the main centre car park just steps from the outdoor tables.

Close by with the dogs

Benowa's river parks are a short drive: the Cabana off-leash dog area has open grass and a sandy swim spot on the Nerang River, and the Scenic Park fenced dog park adds agility equipment and water bubblers. For a proper dog-first cafe, Pooches and Pastries in the French Quarter is the suburb's dedicated pet-friendly option, and the Emerald Lakes circuit covers an on-lead walk nearby.
