Millie's cafe Cammeray

Millie's is a small community cafe at 28 Cammeray Road in Cammeray, on Sydney's lower north shore, and dogs are welcome at the footpath tables along the frontage. It opens early, from 6am on weekdays and Saturdays, which makes it a natural stop on the way back from a morning walk.

The dog setup

The outdoor seating runs along the footpath, and the tables suit keeping a dog on the lead beside you. Staff are used to canine regulars and will usually sort out water, but bring your own bowl just in case. Cammeray Road is a quiet residential frontage, so a settled dog is comfortable even at brunch time.

Worth knowing

The kitchen runs breakfast, brunch and lunch, with chilli mushrooms, bacon and egg rolls, freshly baked muffins, croissants and an orange cake the regulars order, plus chai lattes and iced coffee through the warmer months. Sunday opens an hour later at 7am and everything wraps at 2pm, so this is a morning-and-lunch place rather than an afternoon one.

Getting there and parking

Street parking is available on Cammeray Road and the side streets, though it gets competitive at brunch peak. It is an easy walk from Cammeray Park and close to the reserves that make this pocket of North Sydney good dog country.

Close by with the dogs

Folly Point Reserve is about 750 metres away for a walk before or after coffee, and the Primrose Park walking track handles a longer loop. The Alchemist Espresso on Carter Street is the other dog-friendly cafe in the suburb, and Maggio's Cafe on Miller Street pairs Italian bakery cases with laneway seating.
