Vagabunda Collaborative

Vagabunda Collaborative is a small cafe and creative space at 38 Callala Beach Road, a short stroll from the sand at Callala Beach on Jervis Bay. Specialty coffee, toasties and freshly made churros, served in a roomy-hug-sized space with a community feel that is more local hangout than tourist stop.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome both outside and inside, which is genuinely useful on a wet or windy Jervis Bay day when most beachside cafes push you outdoors. The space is small and intimate, so it suits calm, well-socialised dogs rather than a boisterous crew. No water bowl or dog treats are confirmed as supplied, so pack your own bowl just in case.

The vibe

Churros are the signature, and the coffee holds its own against anything in Huskisson. The creative-space side of the operation gives it an artistic, unhurried feel. Outdoor tables fill quickly once the sun is out, so the play is often churros to go and a walk down to the beach.

Getting there

Street parking along Callala Beach Road is usually easy, tightening up on summer weekends. Most of the beachfront accommodation in Callala Beach is within walking distance.

While you're out there

Callala Beach is footsteps away. Under Shoalhaven City Council rules, dogs run off-leash on the permitted stretch from 4pm to 8am in the summer months and 3pm to 10am in winter, with on-lead rules applying the rest of the time. Dogs are prohibited year-round between Centre Street and Parkes Crescent, so check the signage for your patch of sand. For another coffee stop, Portside Cafe at Huskisson is a short drive north, Huskisson to Vincentia Shared Path makes a good on-lead walk, and The Jetty House Jervis Bay is a nearby stay.
