These Three Things is a relaxed cafe on Lytton Road in Bulimba, a short walk from the Oxford Street strip, with a shaded deck that looks out over the Brisbane city skyline and welcomes dogs on lead.

Dog access. The outdoor deck is the dog-friendly area, staff are used to dogs settling in beside the tables while you eat. There is an indoor play area for kids, but that space is inside and separate from where dogs sit. Bring your own water bowl just in case, and keep leads short given the deck gets busy on weekends.

Known for. Toasties, banana bread, and a solid coffee, plus a view that is unusual for a suburban cafe. It is a popular family stop on weekend mornings, so expect some noise and pram traffic alongside the dogs.

Getting there. The cafe is at 25 Lytton Rd, Bulimba. Unlike most of the Oxford Street precinct, it has its own onsite parking, which makes it an easier stop if you are driving in rather than walking or catching the ferry.

Nearby with the dogs. Bulimba Memorial Park is an easy walk away for a stretch afterwards, and Oxford Street's shops and the ferry terminal are close by if you want to make a longer morning of it.

Go early on weekends if you want a quieter deck, the family and pram crowd builds fast once the sun's out.
