8 Knots Cafe

8 Knots Cafe sits right on the Pittwater shoreline at Bayview, and it opens early, from 5am to 2.30pm every day of the week. That makes it one of the better breakfast calls on the northern beaches if your dog likes to be out before the heat sets in. The cafe occupies a small strip of shops on Pittwater Road with the water just across the way, so most of the day is about the view as much as the plate.

Dogs on the waterfront side

Reported by visitors, dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating areas that face the water, which is where most people choose to sit anyway. Keep your dog leashed and by your table, and expect the usual courtesy: water on request, staff who stop for a pat, and plenty of other dogs passing by on the foreshore walk. As is standard under NSW food rules, the indoor dining and food preparation areas stay dog free.

The kitchen turns out the things you hope for at a waterside cafe: a bacon and egg roll that regulars rave about, wraps, banana bread and freshly made juices, all in generous portions. Given the 5am opening, it is a genuine pre walk coffee option rather than a place you circle for a car park at 11am. Street and arcade parking along Pittwater Road generally copes outside the peak weekend brunch window.
