Your Coffee Chick

Your Coffee Chick is a drive-through coffee van on Canterbury Road in Bayswater North, run by owner Laura from a custom-built van. It opens at 5am on weekdays and shuts by 10:30am, and it is closed on weekends, so this is strictly a before-work call. You never have to leave the car, which makes it one of the easiest coffee stops in Melbourne's east for anyone travelling with a dog.

The dog setup. Dogs stay welcome at the window, whether they ride along in the car or wait on the footpath beside it. Regulars report staff greeting dogs by name and slipping them treats, and reviewers tell of dogs scoring a side of bacon while their humans collect the coffee. Bring your own water bowl if your dog works up a thirst in the queue, as there are no bowls or taps set up at the van.

The menu. Coffee comes in 8oz, 12oz and 16oz sizes, with hot chocolate, chai and iced drinks alongside. The egg and bacon roll is the signature food item and a regular draw for early shifts. Prices are budget friendly, payments take cards and tap, and there is no public restroom at the site.

Getting there. The van sits directly off Canterbury Road with free on-site and street parking, laid out for a quick in and out on the morning run.

While you're out there. Once the coffee is in the cup holder, a few local walks are minutes away.
