Staff are quick to bring out water for visiting dogs, and the tables sit close enough to the kerb that access is easy even for older dogs who dislike tight cafe forecourts. If the footpath traffic gets busy at weekend brunch, takeaway is a straightforward fallback and the river is only a short walk away.

The menu runs to creative breakfast plates alongside generous vegetarian and vegan options, and the blue swimmer crab omelette is the dish regulars keep coming back for. Street parking runs directly along River Street in front of the cafe, with side-street options off Burns Lane for a shorter walk to the outdoor tables. The location puts you within an easy stroll of the Richmond River foreshore, where the riverside path makes a good post-breakfast leg stretcher on the leash.

For proper off-leash time afterwards, Kingsford Smith dog park and the Missingham Park off-leash area are both a short drive from River Street.
