What visitors mention
Campbells is a fifth-generation family winery on the Murray Valley Highway, one of Rutherglen's best-known cellar doors and a reliable stop with a dog in tow. The drawcard is the fortified line-up, but for dog owners the appeal is the easy outdoor setting and the genuinely relaxed welcome in the gardens.
The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on a lead in the outdoor garden and lawn areas. The formal tasting room and bistro are indoors and dog access there can be restricted, so plan to taste outside in fine weather. There is no charge for bringing your dog, and staff are known to put out water on request.
Known for. Campbells built its reputation on Muscat and Topaque (the fortified specialities of the region), alongside aged Durif and Shiraz. Tastings at the cellar door are complimentary, and the garden makes a comfortable spot to linger.
Getting there and parking. The cellar door sits right on the Murray Valley Highway, easy to find and a short drive from the Rutherglen town centre. There is ample on-site parking, including room for larger vehicles, so unloading the dog is straightforward.
Nearby with the dogs. Rutherglen's main street is a pleasant on-lead walk with cafes that seat dogs outside, and several neighbouring wineries also welcome dogs in their outdoor areas. The Murray River nearby gives you a scenic leg-stretch to round out the day.

Best on a fine, quieter weekday when the gardens are calm. Bring your own bowl as backup. Good for sociable dogs happy to relax while you taste.
