Renzaglia Wines

Renzaglia Wines is a small, family-run vineyard in the hills above O'Connell, focused on Italian varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera and Fiano. The cellar door opens on Saturdays with private tours by appointment, and the whole operation is boutique and personal by design, which suits a visit with a dog far better than the big tourist doors.

The dog setup

Dogs are warmly received at the outdoor cellar door and around the vineyard, kept on a leash out of respect for the working agricultural setting and the owners' own dogs. The resident winery dog, Ellie, has a reputation for greeting visiting pups, so a calm, friendly dog settles right in. There is no confirmed indoor access, so plan on an outdoor tasting, bring your own water and treats, and clean up as you go.

Pepsi: mention the dog when you book. It is an intimate, owner-run cellar door and they will set you up at the right table with room to settle.

The vibe

Expect meticulous small-batch Italian-variety wines, owner-led tours and generous time rather than a quick pour, with tastings and grazing boards in a relaxed rural setting looking over the O'Connell valley. Visitors come for the personal experience as much as the wine.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door is at 38 Bosworth Falls Road, O'Connell, about 20 minutes from Bathurst, with on-site parking and easy access from the main road through the village. Hours are limited: the cellar door trades Saturdays from 11am to 5pm and otherwise operates by appointment.

While you're out there

Book ahead for the Saturday session or a private tour, and mention your dog when you reserve. For an overnight nearby, The Convent at O'Connell takes the pet friendly base role, and Gunthers Lane Cafe covers coffee in Bathurst. Kefford St Off-Leash Dog Park is the run-around stop on the way through town.
