Kangarilla Road Vineyard & Winery

Kangarilla Road shares its McLaren Flat cellar door with Silent Noise Wines, and the whole set-up leans casual. Tastings pour off Enomatic machines so you wander at your own pace, the room looks over vines toward the coast, and the hosting is done in part by a resident wine dog who treats every arrival as an event.

The dog setup

Visiting dogs are warmly welcomed, with room on the lawn and garden side of the property and generally inside the cellar door too. Keep the lead on, especially around the resident groodle, Dave, who considers greeting duties his own job. Bring your own water bowl and fresh water in the warmer months, and give the two dogs a calm, supervised introduction before settling in.

The vibe

This is a relaxed, unhurried room rather than a formal tasting counter. The self-serve machines mean you can work through the Kangarilla Road and Silent Noise ranges on your own schedule, and staff step in with context when you want it. The elevated block gives you a long view over the vineyard, so pick an outdoor table on a clear day.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door is on Hamilton Road at McLaren Flat, about 10 to 15 minutes from the McLaren Vale township. Parking is on site, including space for larger vehicles, and the drive in from Adelaide takes around 45 minutes.

While you're out there

The DogRidge cellar door down by Pedler Creek is another famously dog-loving stop in the same suburb, and Hugo Wines is close by for a second tasting. The Shiraz Trail crosses the district for an on-lead leg-stretch between cellar doors.
