Glenarty Road

Glenarty Road is a fifth-generation family-owned winery and restaurant at 70 Glenarty Road, Karridale, roughly 25 minutes south of Margaret River township. The single defining reason to bring your dog here is the expansive outdoor setting: a working farm with sheep, vineyards and a rustic, relaxed atmosphere where leashed dogs are genuinely welcome.

The dog setup. Dogs are allowed outside on the grounds and patio area, which is well suited to sitting outdoors with a drink and a share plate. They are generally not permitted inside the main restaurant building, but the outdoor seating is generous. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times, and this is non-negotiable: there are farm animals on the property. The venue is known to be welcoming, but bring your own water bowl as a backup.

Known for. Glenarty Road runs a genuine paddock-to-plate operation, raising meat and produce directly on the farm. The kitchen earned the 2021 Best Regional Restaurant award, and the property focuses on regenerative agriculture, sustainable vineyard management and sheep farming. The wine bar offers unique, crafted wines in a very casual setting.

Getting there and parking. The venue is accessible by car on Glenarty Road in Karridale, with gravel access to the parking area. There is free, ample on-site parking.

Nearby with the dogs. If you are building a full day out, Augusta Dog Beach is roughly 20 minutes further south for an off-leash run. Closer to Margaret River township, Cape Mentelle is another winery option, and Aldo's Cafe works well for a coffee stop on the way through.

Best suited to dogs that are comfortable in a rustic, open-air farm environment. With farm animals on site and outdoor-only access for pets, it is an ideal stop for a calm, leashed companion happy to settle beside you while you eat and drink.
