Brangayne of Orange

Brangayne of Orange is a family-run vineyard at 837 Pinnacle Road on the slopes of Mount Canobolas, about ten to fifteen minutes from the Orange CBD, and it welcomes dogs at the cellar door as long as they are well-behaved and on a lead. Tastings run in a relaxed high-altitude setting that looks out over the vineyard, which makes it an easy stop on a Canobolas wine loop for a settled dog.

The dog setup

The venue's own FAQ confirms pets are welcome, with well-behaved, on-lead dogs the expectation. There is no dedicated fenced dog area, so this suits a calm dog happy to settle at your feet while you taste rather than one needing room to run. The grounds are picnic-friendly, so you can spread out on the lawn with your dog before or after a tasting.

The vibe

Seated tastings run about 45 minutes and pour a curated line-up of up to nine cool-climate wines, typically riesling, pinot grigio, chardonnay, sparkling and selected reds. Tastings are $10 per person, charged at the end, and bookings are recommended, especially on weekends, though walk-ins are taken when space allows. Groups of eight or more need to book and prepay in advance.

Max: book the mid-morning tasting slot. Quiet cellar door hours mean fewer strange dogs and more of the host's attention on you and yours.

Getting there

Pinnacle Road climbs the Canobolas side of the mountain and is a scenic but narrow country road, so take it slowly. There is on-site parking close to the cellar door. Hours are Tuesday to Friday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm, Saturday from 11am to 5pm, and closed Mondays.
