See Saw Wine

See Saw Wine is a certified organic and biodynamic vineyard on the slopes below Mount Canobolas, about ten minutes from Orange. The cellar door opens daily from 11am, running to 4pm most days and 5pm on Saturdays. It has built its dog-friendly reputation on the lawns out front rather than inside: dogs are genuinely welcomed across the outdoor grounds, and the staff treat a dog at the table as normal, not an exception to be tolerated.

The dog setup

Dogs have the run of the outdoor lawn and garden areas, but the indoor tasting room is humans only, so plan your visit around outdoor seating. Ask for an outdoor table when you book rather than turning up and hoping; the team will place you somewhere with shade and space. Water bowls are available on request. One clear rule: dogs stay on a lead and supervised with you at all times, so no tying a dog up out of sight while you duck inside for a tasting round.

Worth knowing

The wines are the point here: high-altitude, cool-climate drops grown without synthetic inputs, poured as structured tastings or by the glass. Seasonal food and wine pairings run alongside a grazing board option, so the dog can settle on the grass while you work through a flight. Because the dog-friendly space is entirely outdoors, fine weather matters; a wet weekend pushes everything indoors and your dog stays in the car-park side of the equation, which is no fun for anyone. Book ahead, especially for weekends, and mention the dog by name.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door sits at 42 Lake Canobolas Road, Nashdale, a ten to fifteen minute drive northwest of Orange on the Cargo Road wine trail. There is on-site parking right by the entrance, so you can walk the dog in from the car without crossing traffic. The road out past Lake Canobolas is sealed and easy going in a regular car.

Make a day of it

The Nashdale cluster makes this an easy dog-friendly circuit. Rowlee Wines and Printhie Wines Cellar Door are both minutes up the road, and Small Acres Cyder Cellar Door pours cider if half the table wants a break from wine. Back in Orange, Bloomfield Reserve Dog Park gives the dog a proper off-leash run before the drive home.
