Wollundry Lagoon Loop

Wollundry Lagoon sits in the middle of Wagga Wagga, and the loop around it is about 3 km of flat walking between the Civic Centre precinct and the Victory Memorial Gardens. Dogs are welcome the whole way round, on a lead.

Lead rules

Wagga Wagga City Council keeps the loop on-lead at all times. The lagoon is shared with waterbirds, so this is a walk for a steady dog rather than a run.

The walk

The path is a mix of sealed and unsealed sections and stays flat from start to finish, so it suits older dogs and anyone pushing a pram. You pass birds on the water, the arts and history of the civic precinct, and the big shady trees of the memorial gardens.

Bins are spread along the loop, and there are drinking fountains around the gardens and civic precinct. Bring a bowl and a bottle for the dog anyway.

Max: Waterbirds work the lagoon edges. Keep the lead short near the water and let them be.

Make a day of it

The loop starts and finishes in the city centre, so coffee is never far away. Try Makers Coffee House or Little Lunch on Forsyth.

When to go

Street parking and marked bays surround the gardens, the Civic Centre and the lagoon, which makes it an easy morning, lunchtime or evening lap. On hot days, lean on the shaded garden stretches, because the open urban sections take full sun.
