Weekley Park

Weekley Park is Stanmore's village green, with rose gardens, chess tables and a playground between Percival Road and Albany Road. What makes it work for dogs is a signed off-lead section with set hours.

Off-lead hours

Inner West Council allows off-lead exercise in the section between Percival Road and the central pedestrian path. During daylight saving that runs from 5pm to 9am, and the rest of the year from 4pm to 9am.

Outside those hours, and everywhere else in the park, dogs must be on a lead.

The walk

Paved paths cut across the lawns, and the central path takes you past the roses, shady trees, sculptures and the play area. The park is compact, which keeps the local dog crowd friendly rather than chaotic.

There are drinking bubblers with low-level access for dogs, plus bins and bag provisions. There are no public toilets in the park.

Getting there

Street parking is usually available on Percival Road and the surrounding streets.

Pair it with

The Stanmore village shops are right alongside for a coffee. For a pub stop, Public House Petersham and the White Cockatoo Hotel are in neighbouring Petersham.

Come in the early morning or once the evening off-lead window opens, when the regulars are out. Plenty of shade keeps it workable in summer.
