Trinity Park Shared Path

The Trinity Park Shared Path is a paved link through the Cairns northern beaches, running past tropical foreshore, beachside parkland and coastal views. Dogs are welcome on a lead, and there is an off-lead beach close by if yours needs a proper run.

Lead rules

Cairns Regional Council requires dogs on a lead along shared paths and footpaths. The exception nearby is a designated section of Half Moon Bay beach, south of the car park entrance, where dogs can go off lead.

The walk

The path is sealed concrete and asphalt, easy underfoot and shared with bikes. Some stretches have tropical trees and shelters, while open sections get full sun.

Water taps sit near beach access points and foreshore parks, and bins are at the beach car parks.

Getting started

Park at Half Moon Bay Beach and you can combine the path with an off-lead run on the sand.

Max: The paved stretches heat up fast in the tropical sun. Check the path with your hand before a long walk.

Make a day of it

For a climb with views, the Earl Hill track is an on-lead bushwalk in Trinity Park. Afterwards, Memories Cafe @ Yorkeys Knob is on our dog-friendly list.

When to go

Early morning or late afternoon, when the sun is lower. Paved the whole way, it suits older dogs well.
