Everyday Lover

Everyday Lover is a cafe, wine bar and restaurant at Shop 10, 64-66 O'Brien Road in Trinity Park, running all-day breakfast through to dinner on the Cairns northern beaches. Leashed dogs are welcome in the shaded al-fresco seating, which makes it the easy long-brunch stop for Trinity Park and the beach suburbs either side.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs on lead join you in the outdoor seating, staying close to the table; the indoor room is for people. The al-fresco area is shaded, which matters in the tropics, and staff are accommodating with dog owners, though packing your own portable bowl is still the reliable move rather than waiting on one appearing.

The food and the vibe

The menu is what keeps people coming back: Turkish eggs, avo toast and eggs benedict headline breakfast and lunch, with a chicken burger and foccacia for the middle of the day, and a chocolate mousse that gets its own fan club. Coffee is Supreme speciality roast, there are lo-fi organic wines on the list, dairy-free milk comes with no surcharge, and a vintage vinyl record player sets the soundtrack. Hours run from 6:30am Monday to Wednesday for breakfast and lunch, with dinner added on Thursday and Friday until about 9pm, and the weekend starting at 7am or later and winding up at 2pm.

Getting there and parking

The shop sits on O'Brien Road just off the main highway linking Cairns and the northern beaches, so it is an easy detour in either direction. Free off-street parking is on site with extra street parking close by, and the walk from the car to the outdoor tables is short and flat.

Close by with the dogs

The Earl Hill trail at Trinity Park is a good morning walk before brunch, with lookout views over Trinity Bay. For an off-lead run, the fenced Bamford Close fenced dog park at Smithfield and Sunbird Park's fenced dog park at Kewarra Beach are both short drives up the coast. Strait on the Beach at Holloways Beach is the other dog-friendly sit-down option when you are headed back toward the city.
