Toongabbie Creek Walk

Toongabbie Creek Walk follows a restored creek corridor through Toongabbie, Northmead and Parramatta, further north than Mays Hill where it is sometimes listed. It is a flat, paved route and dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

City of Parramatta Council manages the creek paths, and dogs must be on a leash along the shared paths and reserves. Dogs are kept out of wildlife protection areas and playground zones.

For off-lead time, McCoy Park in Toongabbie is one of the designated areas nearby.

The walk

Mostly concrete and stabilised track, the path runs past mature eucalypts, restored creek banks and pockets of bushland between suburban parks. The creek and birdlife give dogs plenty to sniff.

Shade is good under the trees, but open stretches get full sun. Bins sit near reserve entries, and water along the path is sparse, so carry some.

The route links several green spaces, so it is easy to shorten or extend. For a longer outing, try the Parramatta Park to Rydalmere Ferry Wharf walk.

When to go

In summer, pick a cooler part of the day because of the exposed stretches. Flat and even, the path is kind on older dogs' joints.
