Terrys Creek Walk

Terrys Creek Walk drops from Epping into a pocket of rainforest, with ferns, sandstone boulders and a small waterfall, before carrying on towards Eastwood and Lane Cove National Park. Dogs are allowed on a lead and must stay on the tracks.

Lead rules

The City of Ryde lists the corridor as a Category 2 Wildlife Protection Area. That means dogs stay leashed and on established tracks to protect bandicoots and other native animals.

The walk

Expect dirt bush tracks, timber stairs, some concrete path and fibre-mesh boardwalk near the waterfall. It is more bushwalk than stroll, so it suits active dogs.

The canopy is thick and shades most of the route. Bins and bag dispensers are in the surrounding parks rather than on the track, so carry bags.

Getting started

Vimiera Park and Forrester Park are handy entry points, with street parking nearby.

Max: The creek looks inviting but it carries street runoff. Keep the dog from drinking it and pack fresh water.

Pair it with

West Epping Park Fenced Dog Park offers an off-lead run, and Ellie’s Espresso Cafe and Bar is in Epping for coffee.

The deep shade makes it a good summer walk, when open parks are too hot.
