Sturt Park

Sturt Park on Sturt Street in Telopea is a lively community park next to Telopea Public School, with a sealed loop path around open grass, a skate park and a basketball court. Dogs can come, on a lead.

Lead rules

City of Parramatta requires dogs on a lead and under effective control at all times, as this is not an off-lead park. Dogs are also not allowed within 10 metres of the children's play equipment.

The walk

The loop is sealed concrete and asphalt, accessible and easy underfoot. Along the way you pass the grass fields, exercise gear, the playground and the barbecue areas, usually with families about.

Tree canopy and picnic structures give scattered shade, but the open grass is exposed to sun. Bins are near the picnic and barbecue shelters, and dog bubblers are sparse, so bring water.

Max: Know where the playground is before you set off, and keep your dog a full 10 metres from the equipment as you pass.

Summer mornings help with the lack of shade on the grass. Dogs unsettled by skateboards and crowds will do better at quieter times.
