Stringer Road Reserve

Stringer Road Reserve on Melbourne Road is Blairgowrie's sporting ground, and its off-leash area gives dogs a big grassy space to run away from the busier foreshore.

Leads and the off-leash area

Mornington Peninsula Shire allows dogs off lead north of the public tennis courts, and on Roy Tapson Oval when no sports training or matches are underway.

Outside those areas, and whenever sport is on, keep your dog on a lead.

The ground

This is grass and natural ground rather than a formed trail, with unsealed paths linking the facilities. Coastal bush frames the oval and gives a little shade at the edges, but the open grass is exposed.

There is no reliable water on site, so bring your own. Public toilets and off-street parking sit near the pavilion off Melbourne Road.

Make a day of it

Head down to the water afterwards. Dogs Head Rock and the Sorrento Beach Dog Off Leash Area are both close by.

When to go

Check the oval is clear of training or matches before you unclip. Cool mornings suit a high-energy dog that needs a proper run on open grass.
