Strathnairn Community Park Loop

Strathnairn's community park loop is a paved circuit past the playground, sports court and ponds of this new Ginninderry suburb, with a boardwalk over the wetland. Dogs are welcome on lead, but the conservation corridor next door is closed to them.

Lead rules

Transport Canberra and City Services requires dogs on a lead in Strathnairn's streets and public parks. Off-leash play is limited to set spots such as the temporary fenced dog park on Speldewinde Street.

Dogs are banned entirely from the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor, so keep to the suburban paths.

The loop

Concrete and bitumen paths make an easy, flat circuit, crossing the ponds on a boardwalk. Young street trees mean shade is still thin, so summer walks are best done early.

Street parking is easy to find beside the park, and there are bins along the paths. Carry water and a bowl.

Close by, the Shepherd's Lookout Track in Woodstock Nature Reserve is one of the few ACT nature reserve walks where dogs may be off lead under effective control.
