Kippax Oval

Kippax Oval, home ground of the Belconnen Magpies, sits in the Holt playing fields beside the Kippax Group Centre. When no formal sport is on, dogs can come off the lead on the open grass.

Leads and the oval

Under ACT Government rules, dogs may be off-lead on sports ovals only while no game or training is underway. Once a session starts, dogs are not allowed on the active fields at all.

On the footpaths, shared paths and verges, and anywhere within 10 metres of a path, dogs must be on a lead.

Around the grounds

The walk is a loop of asphalt and concrete footpaths around wide turf fields, framed by mature trees that give good shade along the outer edges. There is a toilet block and canteen near field 5, and parking beside the grounds and near the Kippax shops.

Bins sit around the perimeter and car parks but are sparse along some sidelines, so bring bags. Water for dogs is patchy, so pack a bowl.

Max: Look at the fields before you unclip. If a team is training, the whole oval is off limits to dogs.
