Georges Bay Multi-User Track

The foreshore path along Georges Bay in St Helens, signed as the Georges Bay Multi-User Track, is a flat bayside walk that follows the Esplanade. Dogs must stay on a lead the whole way.

Lead rules

Break O'Day Council has declared the entire St Helens foreshore track an on-lead area. Leads must be no longer than two metres.

The walk

The surface switches between boardwalk and fine gravel, with no real climbs. Views stretch across the calm water of the bay, with fishing boats and plenty of birdlife.

Mature trees and grassy reserves break up the route, though some open stretches take the full coastal sun.

Getting started

There is parking at several access points along Georges Bay Esplanade and around the waterfront. Bins are near the car parks, boat ramps and foreshore parks, but taps are scarce, so bring water for the dog.

Max: Two metres is the limit here. Leave the long retractable lead at home.

For an off-lead run, head to Paddy's Island off lead dog beach, or add the gentle loop at Percy Steel Reserve Walk.

Go early on a still day. Because the path stays flat the whole way, it is a kind choice for older or recovering dogs.
