Slade Point Reserve Path

The Slade Point Reserve Path winds through protected coastal bush in Slade Point, north of Mackay Harbour, with paperbark wetlands, dunes and views over the Coral Sea.

Lead rules

Mackay Regional Council requires dogs on lead on the reserve tracks to protect wildlife and dunes. Off-lead time is only on signed beach zones elsewhere.

The walk

The path is natural dirt and sand, with scrub and trees shading some stretches and open headland sections in full sun.

Water on the track is limited, so carry a bottle and bowl. Bins and parking are at the main access points, including the car park off Pacific Esplanade at the northern end of Lamberts Beach.

Max: Soft sand and hot dunes are hard work. Keep midday walks short.
