Scarness Foreshore

Scarness Foreshore gives you two walks in one, an on-lead stroll on the Esplanade path and a 24/7 off-leash beach right beside it. The water is calm Hervey Bay, with Big Woody Island on the horizon.

Leads and the off-leash beach

Fraser Coast Regional Council keeps dogs on lead along the paved Esplanade path. The beach from Tooan Tooan Creek to Scarness Jetty is an off-leash area at any hour.

Near the jetty there are marked swimming zones where dogs are not allowed, so read the signs before unclipping.

The walk

The path is paved and runs past grassy parkland and shade trees, though parts of the Esplanade footpath sit in full sun. Parking bays line the Esplanade beside the beach and parks.

Dog bag dispensers and bins are spaced along the foreshore. For a tap, the council's Scarness Park sites on Hervey Street and Denmans Camp Road both have one for dogs.

Pepsi: Calm, shallow bay water and an off-leash beach at any hour. Just stay clear of the flagged swim zones by the jetty.

When to go
