Russell Clark Reserve

Russell Clark Reserve off Ocean Drive in Port Fairy is a short, flat loop around a man-made wetland and pond busy with birds. Dogs are welcome on a lead, and the circuit doubles as the course for the local parkrun.

Lead rules

Moyne Shire Council requires dogs on a lead and under effective control in the parks and reserves it manages, including this one.

Plan the rest of your day with care. Griffiths Island is closed to dogs at all times to protect the shearwater rookeries and wallabies.

The walk

Paths are mostly concrete and asphalt, with short sections of crushed limestone and grass. The circuit winds around the water, with birdlife on show most of the way.

Mature trees and native plantings line the paths for natural shade. Picnic tables, electric barbecues, public toilets and bins are all within the reserve.

There is parking on site and in nearby streets, including accessible bays near the entrance.

Wander into town for coffee at Bank St + Co or Home Grown Port Fairy.

When to go

Parkrun mornings bring a crowd, so pick another time if your dog prefers peace. The flat, easy circuit suits older dogs and slow walkers.
