Red Cliffs Scenic Reserve Walking Track

The cliffs that give Red Cliffs its name rise about 70 metres above the Murray River, and the walking track through the scenic reserve lets dogs share the view, on a lead.

Lead rules

Parks Victoria manages the reserve, which sits in the Mildura Rural City area. Dogs must be on a leash at all times to protect the bushland and native wildlife.

The walk

Expect dirt tracks through a remnant of native bush, with wooden stairs and boardwalk sections dropping toward the river plain. From the top, the view takes in the orange-red clay cliffs and the floodplain below.

Mallee canopy shades some stretches, but others are open to the sun.

What to carry

Water points and bins are few or absent along the bush tracks. Carry plenty of water for you and the dog, and bags to pack out waste. There is informal parking near the reserve and lookout.

Max: This is sun-exposed country for much of the year. Walk early and turn back before a dog starts to flag.

Make a day of it

Back in town, Coffee on Indi is the stop for a coffee afterwards.

Cooler months and early mornings are the pick. It suits fit dogs that are steady on stairs.
