Quart Pot Creek Parklands

Quart Pot Creek runs straight through the middle of Stanthorpe, and the parklands beside it carry about 5 kilometres of walking and cycling track past water-worn granite boulders. Dogs walk the main paths on lead, with a signed off-lead area off Connor Street for a run.

Leads and the off-lead area

Southern Downs Regional Council manages the parklands. Keep dogs on lead along the main paths through town.

The off-lead area is off Connor Street, between Talc Street and Britannia Street. There is another off-lead spot on Allison Street, off Archibald Street.

Drinking fountains with dog access sit near the Connor Street section, and bag dispensers and bins are in the off-lead park and along the main stretch.

The walk

Most of the track is smooth concrete and bitumen, with short boardwalks and decomposed granite in places. Look out for the Red Bridge, a heritage crossing from the 1880s.

It is flat and easy going, fine for prams and slower dogs. Free parking is at several entry points, including near Leslie Parade.

When to go

Mature trees shade parts of the path, but the open grass warms up fast around midday in summer. Walk early in the warmer months and save the off-lead stop for the end, so tired dogs head home happy.
