Orielton Lagoon Loop - Miena Park section

The Miena Park section of the Orielton Lagoon Loop gives Sorell walkers wide, quiet views over a Ramsar-listed wetland, and it is strictly a walk for dogs on lead.

Lead rules

Sorell Council allows dogs on lead along the shared pathway and reserve sections. The lagoon is an international feeding ground for migratory shorebirds, so a short lead matters here.

The walk

The path mixes sealed concrete and gravel, with a few engineered bends and gentle gradients. It is even underfoot, with no rough bush track.

Native plantings and birdlife line the way, and two dog waste bins sit along this section.

Water and shade

Shade is minimal and there is no dog water on the loop, so carry water and a bowl, and a hat for yourself.

Max: This is shorebird feeding ground. Keep your dog close and let the birds be.

For off-lead time, head to Sorell Dog Park, then coffee at Velvet.

Cool, calm mornings are best, since the open path offers little cover on hot days.
