Liv Eat Sorell

Liv Eat is a Tasmanian healthy-eating cafe on Cole Street in central Sorell, the gateway town for anyone heading east to the coast. It is built for quick, filling refuels, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which makes it an easy stop with a dog in tow on a travel day.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the footpath and outdoor seating, where you can tie a lead to the furniture while you eat. Indoor dining is off limits to pets under standard food-service rules. Dog-specific facilities are not always set out, so bring your own collapsible bowl and keep your dog settled close to the table and clear of passing foot traffic.

Worth knowing

The menu is built around fresh, generous fare: build-your-own bowls, salads, wraps, paninis, a crispy chicken burger and a falafel bowl, with strong vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options and banana bread for the road. Service is fast, which is the point. Hours run long, from 5:15am on weekdays and 6am on weekends through to 8pm or 9pm, so it works for an early East Coast start as well as a late dinner.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 16 Cole Street, Sorell, about 25 minutes east of Hobart. Street parking runs along Cole Street and can fill in the breakfast and lunch rush, with public car parks in the town centre a short walk away that give the dog a stretch on the way in.

Close by with the dogs

Sorell Dog Park on Montagu Street is a fenced off-lead area with separate zones for larger and smaller dogs, a few minutes from town, and Seven Mile Beach is a short drive for a longer on-lead walk. Velvet is a fellow Sorell cafe if you are pacing the day differently.
