O'Donnell Park

Right on the Silver City Highway at Curlwaa, O'Donnell Park is the kind of stop that rescues a long drive. The Murray River slides past under gum trees, and dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Wentworth Shire Council manages the park, and standard reserve rules apply, so keep your dog leashed unless a sign says otherwise. There is no fenced off-lead enclosure here.

The walk

This is a stroll rather than a set route. Paths of grass, earth and compacted gravel wander around the grounds and down towards the grassy riverbank.

The lawns are generous, so there is room for a dog to stretch away from the highway traffic. Mature trees throw shade over spots to rest.

Getting started

There is a wheelchair-accessible car park, plus picnic tables and public toilets for the humans.

Dog-specific facilities are thin, so pack water, a bowl and waste bags.

Max: The river is lovely to look at, but keep the lead short near the bank. The highway is close by too.

It suits travellers heading to or from Wentworth and Mildura who need twenty calm minutes by the water. Summer afternoons are hot out here, so aim for the cooler ends of the day.
