Mount Barker Linear Trail

The Mount Barker Linear Trail follows the creek lines of Mount Barker, linking the Laratinga Wetlands with Keith Stephenson Park on a flat, sealed path. Dogs are welcome, on lead the whole way.

Lead rules

Mount Barker District Council requires dogs on a lead and under effective control at all times on the trail. The connected Laratinga Wetlands tracks are on-lead too.

The walk

The bitumen shared path runs beside Western Flat Creek under big gum trees, with birdlife and art installations along the way. Mature trees shade parts of it, but some stretches are open.

Because it joins the wetlands and other reserves, a short walk can easily become a much longer one.

Getting started

There is parking at several entry points, including trailheads near Laratinga Wetlands, with bins near trailheads and connected parks. Carry fresh water for your dog rather than relying on the creek.

Make a day of it

For off-lead time, The Glebe in nearby Littlehampton has a designated off-leash dog area.

When to go

The flat gradient suits senior dogs and relaxed morning walks with a pram. In summer, go early while the open sections are still cool.
