Reedy Lake Walk

The Reedy Lake Walk follows the management tracks around the western and southern edges of Reedy Lake in Moolap, a wetland on the lower Barwon. At about 10 km, it is a proper outing for fit dogs.

Lead rules

Dogs are welcome on lead on the outer tracks, and must stay leashed and on track. The wetland is important bird habitat, so parts can be closed or restricted, and City of Greater Geelong rules keep dogs out of sensitive wetland areas.

The walk

Expect unpaved dirt and gravel tracks past reeds, open water and waterbirds. Some native trees and scrub give shade, but much of it is open.

There is no water on the tracks, so pack plenty for both of you. Bins are at Moolap Reserve rather than out on the wetland.

Max: Check for closure signs at the gate before you go, especially in duck season and bird breeding months.

Refuel at Fork N Flower in Moolap afterwards.

Cool, calm mornings suit this one best. It is long and exposed on hot days.
