Marty Busch Reserve Walking Track

Marty Busch Reserve in Sebastopol is a big sports reserve rather than a bush track, but its perimeter paths make an easy on-lead loop past the ovals, the velodrome and the BMX track.

Lead rules

The City of Ballarat requires dogs to be on lead in sports reserves and public spaces unless an area is declared off-leash. This reserve is not one, so keep the lead on.

The walk

Paths around the precinct are a mix of asphalt, concrete and compacted granitic sand, with links toward the Yarrowee River corridor. Expect open green space and plenty of sporting activity.

Shade is patchy, found mostly around the perimeter trees and clubrooms, while the ovals are fully exposed. Bins sit around the pavilion, car park and ovals, and parking is off Gladstone Street.

Make a day of it

Carry on to the Yarrowee River Trail from the Docwra Street bridge for a longer walk, or head to Sebastopol Dog Park for off-lead time.

When to go

The reserve is home to local football, netball and cycling clubs, so a weekday morning is the best bet for a quiet lap. Bring water for the dog and skip the middle of hot days on the open ovals.
