Marlborough Street Reserve

Marlborough Street Reserve in Bentleigh East gives local dogs a proper run without a drive. Glen Eira City Council splits it in two: the western side over the sportsground is off-lead, the eastern side is not.

Leads and the off-lead area

Keep the lead on anywhere near Marlborough Street, including around the playground on the eastern side. Once you are across on the sportsground, dogs can come off lead and stretch out on the grass.

The walk

Concrete paths run around the perimeter and link the reserve's facilities, so it is an easy loop in any weather. Along the way you pass the playing fields, grassy open space and a playground under shade sails.

Established trees and a picnic shelter give some shade. Street parking sits right beside the reserve on Marlborough Street.

Pepsi: Pack a water bottle and a bowl. Nobody promises a dog tap here, and a sportsground sprint is thirsty work.

Make a day of it

For a change of scene, Mackie Road Reserve is another local option, or finish with a coffee at JUNTO Cafe.

It suits a quick daily run for dogs with good recall, and the paved loop works for older dogs who would rather stroll.
