Mackie Road Reserve

Mackie Road Reserve gives Bentleigh East dogs two ways to burn energy. There is a purpose-built fenced dog park at the Orange Street end, next to the tennis courts, and an oval that opens up for off-lead play when sport is not on.

Leads and the off-lead area

Glen Eira City Council zones the reserve carefully. Inside the fenced dog park, dogs can run off lead, and the main oval is off-lead too, but only when clubs are not using it.

Everywhere else, including the paths, dogs stay on lead. Keep them at least 20 metres from playgrounds, barbecues and fenced sports facilities.

What's at the dog park

The fenced area has separate spaces for different sizes and play styles, double-entry gates, drinking water and dog waste bins. There is seating and shade for owners, and street parking around the pavilion.

Max: Check the oval before you unclip. If a club is training, it is a lead-only zone until they finish.

For a change of scene, Bailey Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is nearby, and JUNTO Cafe is a handy coffee stop.

The split zones suit a mixed household. A shy small dog gets its own fenced space, while a big runner can stretch out on the oval outside sports times.
