Maddingley Park

Maddingley Park is Bacchus Marsh's grand old public park, right beside the railway station, and its avenues of 19th-century elms make for a handsome leashed walk close to town. Dogs must stay on a lead at all times.

Lead rules

Moorabool Shire Council manages the park. The lead stays on throughout, including near the playground, barbecue areas and the ovals when sport is on.

The walk

Sealed paths and bike paths loop past open ovals, rose gardens and memorial avenues lined with mature exotic trees. Grassed tracks fill in between, and the old canopy gives plenty of shade.

Water and facilities

Drinking taps sit near the main recreation areas, with bins along the paths and toilets on site. Parking is off Taverner Street.

Pepsi: The big old trees here make a shady stop. Top up the water bowl at the taps.

Make a day of it

Grab something at Little Lucky Cafe or Loot Cottage Garden Cafe in town.

Flat paths and shade suit older dogs, and the station next door makes it an easy train outing. For off-lead running, locals head to the Bacchus Marsh Racecourse and Recreation Reserve.
