Lord Robinson Park

Lord Robinson Park sits at the southern end of Macclesfield beside Crystal Lake, where a spring-fed stretch of the Angas River runs through red gum woodland. It is a leashed walk, with dogs kept on a lead and under effective control.

Lead rules

Mount Barker District Council manages the park. It is a general reserve, not an off-leash dog park, so leads stay on around the river, the lake and the trail.

The walk

A loop trail of natural earth, dirt and gravel passes a small lake and a cascading mini waterfall. There is also a sculpture walk along the way.

Red gums, manna gums, blue gums, sheoaks and acacias shade much of the route. Birdlife is rich, including blue wrens, honeyeaters and kingfishers.

Getting there

There is parking at the main entrance on the corner of Pound Road and Pochin Street, and more near the walking trail entrance off Strathalbyn Road. Dog water is not listed, so bring some.

Max: Kingfishers and wrens nest along here. A short lead keeps everyone calm.

When to go

The woodland shade makes this a comfortable warm-weather loop. For off-lead time, the council's park at The Glebe in town has a designated dog exercise area.
