Leven River Shared Pathway

Tidal water, passing boats and ducks keep the Leven River Shared Pathway interesting as it follows the river through Ulverstone and West Ulverstone. The path is wide, flat and paved, and dogs walk it on a lead.

Lead rules

Central Coast Council designates the regional shared pathway from Sulphur Creek to Leith as an on-lead area, and this riverside stretch is part of it. Keep your dog close when bikes come through.

The walk

The concrete path runs past parklands, recreation areas, boat ramps and the wharf, with views across the estuary. It is an even surface that suits every fitness level, from young dogs to old ones.

Some stretches have mature trees and shelters, but long sections run open beside the water in full sun and sea breeze.

Water and parking

Taps are scattered near picnic spots on the wider network, so bring a bottle and bowl to be sure. Bins and bag dispensers sit at the main access points and parks.

Park near the boat ramps and riverside parks, such as Legion Park.

Pair it with

Carry on along the West Ulverstone Foreshore Shared Pathway, then stop for coffee at Hey Buddy.

Go on a still morning, when the river is calm and the open stretches are cooler.
