Kettering Point Foreshore Walk

The Kettering Point foreshore walk follows the shore to Trial Bay, about 3 km return and roughly an hour, with the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island in view. Dogs walk it on a lead.

Lead rules

Kingborough Council allows dogs on this track on a lead. There is no off-leash section.

The walk

The surface is gentle compacted gravel, pram-friendly for most of the way, narrowing to bush path in places. Sheoaks and blue and black gums frame views of the shoreline, moored boats and the channel, and the birdlife is busy in the trees.

The light woodland shades much of the path.

Getting started

You can park at either end. The spot at the end of Ferry Road near the point is small, while the Trial Bay entrance beside the boat ramp has more room plus toilets, barbecues and picnic tables.

There is no dog water on the track, so pack a bottle and a bowl, and bring bags.

When to go

Any time of year, thanks to the shade. For something shorter, the Kettering Oval track is about 1 km return.
